Volunteer In Pet Adoption In New Jersey

Volunteers are needed to help place abandoned New Jersey pets in a caring home

Animal shelters and pet rescues depend upon the kindness and generosity of volunteers who want to spend their time making an effort to find unwanted and abandoned animals a loving home. Each year in New Jersey, thousands of animals are rescued from the streets and from abusive home environments. New Jersey humane societies and pet adoption services make it their mission to rehabilitate and find a loving home for each animal.

Instructions

1. Contact your local humane society or pet adoption service in New Jersey. Ask a local veterinarian which program he or she recommends.

2. Make a decision as to what type of volunteer services you want to offer the pet adoption agency; several different options are available, such as fostering animals in your home, cleaning and playing with the animals or volunteering as an adoption representative during adoption days.

3. Offer your services as a volunteer. Some agencies require that you fill out and submit an application, which they will review. When approved, you will be contacted about volunteer opportunities. Most agencies require volunteers to be 18 or older and some require you to pay for a background check before you are permitted to volunteer.
