Make A Website Of Virtual Pets

Virtual pet sites have become a trend in today's society. Owning a virtual four legged friend helps kids gain responsibility by caring for their pet, with little intervention and less costs for busy parents. Designing a virtual pet website is a quick and fun task; it benefits you and your clients. Suited for both the young and young at heart, this is a fun-filled experience and low-cost way to potentially earn extra money for you.

Instructions

1. Choose a host site for your virtual store. There are some free hosts such as weebly.com and freewebsites.com as well as others you pay for. (See References 1 & 2) Ipowerweb.com and bluehost.com provide sites you purchase. (See References 3) Provide a valid email address to sign up for your website; build it choosing designs and page templates according to your personal theme and style for your pet store. Include a place for members to sign up on your homepage.

2. Design your pet world. A complicated yet fun part of building your retail store is visualizing and creating the design. Use original ideas for your virtual pet world. Visit other online virtual pet storefronts then incorporate small touches that make yours stand out from others in a good way.

3. Add a description about your virtual pet world to the homepage of your website. People like to read exactly what the site offers when they visit, so make your description stand out. Write vibrant and crisp copy about the enjoyment virtual owners will share with the pets when they visit. Use active verbs such as play, fetch, discover, enjoy, entertain and love.

4. Set rules. Make them for everyone that visits, keeping it a fun yet professional and enjoyable environment. No swearing, no personal information and no slurs are just a few rules to keep in mind.

5. Decide whether or not to add a forum to the site for members to chat, role play and interact with other members. Forums while fun, can result in extra work for you as far as moderating comments and keeping the forum free of racial slurs inappropriate language and spamming, according to writer David Callan, author of Pros and Cons of Having a Discussion Forum. (See References 4)

6. Advertise your site. After posting your website, research other websites that allow advertising and post an ad about your website. Advertise and post information about your virtual pet store on the myriad of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. Post a regular blog on your site extolling the virtues of owning a virtual pet. Share information about your virtual pets with readers.
