Free Places To Place Ads For Dogs

Advertise a dog for sale by walking the pet.

Whether your household pet just surprised you with a litter of pups or you're a certified dog breeder, you will eventually need to find homes for the puppies. To keep out-of-pocket costs at a minimum, use free and creative advertising methods to find pet lovers ready to adopt or purchase the dogs.

Use the Internet

Use the world's largest communication tool to let people know about the dogs. Post advertisements on free classified ad listings, write an article about pet care on a blog, direct readers to a website where they can view your dogs or create a fan page on your favorite social media website to showcase the top qualities of the animals you're selling.

Show off the Dog

Spend an afternoon at the dog park. Not only can you exercise and socialize the dog, you'll meet other animal lovers. Chat with strangers about the dog, and how you're looking for a new home for it. Even if people at the dog park have enough pets, they may know others who admire animals and want a new pet. Word-of-mouth promotion -- even with strangers -- works, according to author Roy H. Williams at Entrepreneur. Other places to strike up pet-friendly conversations, with the dog in tow, include walking trails and big-box pet retail stores that allow four-legged customers.

Communication Blitz

If you're a dog breeder and regularly have dogs for sale, use your everyday business communication tools to spread the message. If you send a weekly e-mail newsletter, include a blurb about something cute the puppies did recently and how they'll be ready for their forever homes in a few weeks. This subtle -- and free -- approach gives potential buyers a gentle nudge towards purchasing. Keep customers and fans in tune with your business by posting breeding updates on social media outlets. Nobody can refuse peeking at an album of adorable dogs. Once a few fans share the pictures, you increased your audience of potential buyers.

Bulletin Boards

Hang colorful posters with pictures of the dog around town. Try to choose bulletin boards not already saturated with pet ads. In addition to the locally-owned pet shop, branch out to other places where pet-lovers shop. Hang ads in veterinary offices, farm supply stores, children's toy stores and grocery stores. For an increased amount of responses, include a phone number and email address where people can reach you.
