Associations That Donate Funds For The Rescue Of Unwanted Pets

Animal adoption is the final step in the saving of an abandoned animal.

Without funding from rescue organizations and fund raising, animals that have been sheltered may be euthanized due to overcrowding, sickness or injury. Associations such as Bound Angels provide services to educate shelters, while other organizations such as PetSmart, Milk Bone and PetCo provide charitable services to help save these animals and encourage adoption.

Awareness Campaigns

The Bound Angels Association helps with the rescue, education, awareness campaigns, medical expenses, and the relocation of animals that are at risk of being killed in animal shelters. Their Adoption Filmography Program documents and provides behavioral assessments which help potential new owners provide dogs with safe, loving new homes. Each month, the Bound Angels Association features a new shelter.

Shelter Overpopulation

PetSmart helps improve the quality of life for all pets by creating and supporting charity programs that save the lives of homeless pets and promote healthy relationships between people and their pets. PetSmart has an adoption reward program and supports animal welfare agencies that create solutions. They also support programs that fight homeless pet overpopulation by providing spaying and neutering services.

Pets and Human Disablity Training

Milk Bone has created the Canine Assistants Program to help individuals with a disability and to train animals for a specific purpose. A portion of Milk Bone's profit goes to help train and provide service dogs for children and adults with special needs. Some of these dogs come from shelters.

Disaster Relief and Marketable Pets

The PetCo Foundation supports the reduction, rescue, and rehabilitation of pets. The Adoption Options Program encourages adoption through workshops where experts speak to local audiences and provide information on animal training. The Animal Shelters Programs provides a market for adoptable animals. Some PetCo stores have satellite animal shelters that provide access to adoptable dogs, cats, and other small animals. PetCo's Disaster Relief Assistance Program directs monetary and product donations and provides seed funds to programs that help families stay together with companion animals.
