The Littlest Pet Shop started as a collection of pets geared to seven- to nine-year-old girls. From there, it has grown to include play sets, activity books and an online website. Kids can color the pages by themselves or with their friends. The activity book has at least 94 pages. Children ages four and up can use this activity book to explore their creativity and develop motor skills.

Kids can enjoy playing for hours with the Littlest Pet Shop play sets. Play sets include different settings such as a hotel, day care center, adoption center and a school. Kids can use the pets that come with their play sets or their own if they choose. Some play sets allow children to collect more pets in order to trade with friends. Animals may include dogs, cats, fish, sea horses, frogs and flamingos.
