Webkinz are small stuffed animals that come with an 8 character code that is used to register the animal in the online Webkinz world. Once the code is entered into the Webkinz website, the owner will have access to a virtual world, whichshe can customize to her liking. However, access to the Webkinz page is restricted to Webkinz owners with valid codes, and at least one new code needs to be entered every year to maintain access. Additionally, Webkinz has some technical requirements that may require adjustment to your computer system.
Instructions
1. Verify that your screen resolution is at least 1024 x 768. To check this, right click on the computer desktop and choose the "Personalization" option. Click "Display" in the lower left corner of the window, then choose "Adjust Resolution" and set it so that the resolution is equal to or greater than 1024 x 768.
2. Adjust the security settings on your browser to allow the Webkinz page to load. Click the "Tools" option at the top of your web browser, select "Options" or "Internet Options," then choose the "Security" tab. If your security settings are too strict, you may not be able to view the site. Additionally, you will need to allow pop-ups on the Webkinz site, which may also require adjustments to your browser settings.
3. Navigate to the Adobe install Flash Player website. See Resources.
4. Click the yellow "Download Now" button in the center of the screen.
5. Select the "Run" option if it is offered. Otherwise, click the "Save" button.
6. Navigate to the downloaded file, then double click it and follow the prompts until the installation is complete. Close your web browser if it is open, then open a new browser window.
7. Navigate to the Webkinz page. See Resources.
8. Click the "Log In" button on the left side of the screen, or the "New Member" button if you have never used the Webkinz site before. If you are a new member, you will need to follow the prompts for making a new account, which includes entering the 8 character pet code included with your Webkinz doll.
9. Type your user name and password into their respective fields and click the "Begin Playing" button.
