The ASPCA adopts kittens to good homes.
The ASPCA houses homeless cats and dogs for adoption to families across America. The animals sheltered by the ASPCA are often the victims of animal cruelty such as abuse and neglect. Once an animal is rescued by the ASPCA it is vaccinated, cleaned, fed and taken care of. People can adopt a cat or dog, provided you can give the animal and clean, stable and loving environment in which to live.
Instructions
1. Contact your local ASPCA for office hours: If there is no ASPCA in your area, the ASPCA does partner with other animal shelters across the country that also adopt animals to private homes. You can search for an ASPCA-partnered animal shelter, using the ASPCA's search tool on their website at ASPCA.org.
2. Provide two forms of identification. Any legal document stating your name and address will suffice, as long as one features your photo. You will also need to supply references that can be reached during daytime hours.
3. Choose the cat you want to adopt. You can look for kittens on your ASPCA's website, or you can tour the facility and choose which one seems like a good fit for your lifestyle.
4. Pay the adoption fee. As of May 2011, fees begin at $75 and go up, depending on the type and number of cats you adopt. Fill out the adoption paperwork, which requires your name and personal information. Take your new cat home with you, once your adoption paperwork is ready.
