Volunteer With Animals

Make a difference and a friend!

Want to give back to the animal community? Volunteer with animals!

There are many ways to help animals from spending time at animal shelters to working at a wildlife center to becoming an advocate for endangered species! You can make a difference and make a friend at the same time by volunteering with animals.

Instructions

1. Volunteer at an animal shelter! It is an easy way to get involved with animals and it can be as low or high commitment as you make it. You can walk dogs, play with cats, foster an injured or sick animal or even adopt a pet. For more information, check out one of the related articles.

2. Volunteer at a wildlife organization. Contact your local wildlife center to find out what kind of volunteer opportunities they have available, and how much training is needed to handle wild animals.

3. Take care of your environment, so the animal population will thrive. The National Wildlife Federation offers numerous opportunities to volunteer, from learning to garden for wildlife to teaching others about global warming.

4. Be an advocate for animal and wildlife organizations. Raise money with an animal shelter, volunteer for office work or event staffing at wildlife organizations or organize an animal supply drive at your office.
