Create An Exciting Game

Creating exciting video games can be a rewarding career.

Creating video games either for profit or for fun is a dream for many people. Fortunately, this can be achieved with relative ease due to a wide variety of game-creation engines and programming languages. When developing a game you want to make it exciting and fulfilling for the player. To do this it takes much research in terms of playing games and reading about what people think of different games.

Instructions

1. Read up on video game websites and literature. This will give you an advantage when determining what makes an exciting game. It enables you to read previews and reviews on all the games available today. These reviews are based solely on opinion however so it may be important to read through several reviews before determining if a game is worth emulating a bad rating or not.

2. Consider the genre. There are many different types of genres in the game world such as puzzle, fighting, racing, role-playing games and more. Each genre has a different fan base and being able to integrate many genres at a time is a great way to find an audience.

3. Play games. An excellent way to determine what makes an exciting game is playing games that you find exciting. You can download demos and full games from many different websites. Experiment with different genres and explore games you might not usually play - especially if the game had particularly good reviews.

4. Avoid being cliche. Work around known cliches in the video game world such as always having one ice or lava level, or the idea that you must start with almost no gear or weapons at the beginning of the game. Your players will enjoy the extra effort put into your title.
