Get Grants For Medical Care

Getting a grant for your medical care is a way to stay out of debt.

Getting a grant for medical care can be a challenge. Mostly, it is difficult because the average person doesn’t know where to look to get it. However, there are several entities willing to pay off your unpaid medical bills. All you have to do is find them and apply for the money.

Instructions

1. Request a grant from the hospital that gave you care. Many hospitals have funds set up to help patients who can’t pay medical bills. They even will go as far as to waive charges.

2. Speak with your employer about getting a grant. Because history has proven that medical bills can crush a person financially, many employers have emergency funds for employees specifically to deal with this type of problem. You can find out what is available to you by approaching your human resources officer.

3. Approach an organization or group that supports people with your illness. For example, if you have cancer, you should contact the American Cancer Society and ask for a grant. If they can’t help you, they will refer you to someone who can.

4. Go to your local church. Churches often will grant people in need with money and services. So, you can get the finances to pay your bills and also get follow-up services from a group of kind people.

5. Contact an association that helps special interest groups. The National Association for Colored People (NAACP) does more than just fight for social rights; it also helps people with financial problems. So if you are an African American, you can approach them for a grant for your medical bills.

6. Seek help from your local government. The government often has grants to help people in a variety of situations. See if they have ones to cover medical bills for your specific illness.

7. Befriend your local librarian and ask for help. Of course, she won’t be able to give you the money herself. However, she can guide you through the Internet and a few books that can send you in the right direction.

8. Talk to friends and family about your dilemma. Make it a group effort. Over the next seven days, all the people you ask should find one place that gives grants for medical bills. It will be the easiest way to resolve your financial problem.
