Can'T Upload Photos To Craigslist

If photos won't upload from your hard drive, troubleshoot the problem.

Craigslist ads include space for up to four photos hosted on the Craigslist server. Clear photos reduce the time spent on fielding basic questions about an item, and help attract a knowledgeable buyer or tenant. To upload photos, click on the Add/Edit photos button below the ad. Four red "X's" serve as placeholders for up to four photos. Click on the "Choose File" button underneath each one. Select a file from your hard drive. If a photo does not upload after completing these simple steps, troubleshoot to find the problem.

Instructions

1. Double-check the file format. The Craigslist photo uploader only recognizes image file formats, such as .gif and .jpg. If you inadvertently saved the photo as a document or .pdf file, open up your photo editing program and re-save it.

2. Reduce the size of the image if the server takes too long to respond. If you select a photo from your hard drive and after thirty seconds or more, the photo has not appeared on the Craigslist editing screen, you need to reduce the file size. Resize the file to 1MB or smaller. Upload the photo again.

3. Host your own photos. Upload photos to a free photo hosting service or to your website. Insert them in your Craigslist ad with html language. Place your cursor where you would like the image in the ad. The correct format begins with ).

4. Preview your ad to view the photos. A photo inserted via html will not instantly appear on the "edit" screen. If the photo makes the text appear small or insufficient, add code to reduce its size. Before the end bracket, type WIDTH= and the number of pixels across you desire. The height automatically adjusts proportionately. If you designate both width and height, the picture may look distorted. Add parenthesis to the numeral. Start with "250" and adjust up or down until the the image size works.
