Stray animals need help to find good homes.
There are stray cats and dogs everywhere that have been abandoned and forgotten. You may find a few around your school. If there are many around your school, chances are they are reproducing and need to be spayed or neutered. Getting these animals adopted through your local animal shelter may be their best bet for a happy ending.
Instructions
1. Round up the animals to take to the shelter. Do so with the help of a knowledgeable adult to keep both yourself and the animals safe. If the animals are tame, you and the adult may be able to lure them into kennels or crates with food. Feral animals should be caught humanely using live animal traps.
2. Volunteer at your local shelter. This is one way to help any animal get adopted. The more volunteers a shelter has, the better cared-for the animals are. The better the animals are cared for, the healthier and happier they are and are considered more "adoptable." Call your local animal shelter and ask whether volunteers are needed. Make sure you have your parents' permission to volunteer.
3. Write a piece in your school's newspaper featuring the animals you rescued. This may encourage other students or faculty to consider adopting a pet. Ask the newspaper's editorial staff or adviser whether you can write a story or whether you can submit a letter to the editor.
