Nursing Scholarships In Los Angeles

A variety of scholarships are available to nursing students attending school in the Los Angeles area. Some Los Angeles nursing scholarships are available from state and local organizations dedicated to the profession of nursing or the success of Los Angeles-area college students. Others are available directly from Los Angeles schools that offer degrees in nursing.


National Council of Jewish Women Los Angeles


The Los Angeles branch of the National Council of Jewish Women offers two annual scholarships to female nursing students in the Los Angeles area. The June Miller Nursing Education Scholarship is available in the amount of $2,000. The Inger Lawrence-M.R. Bauer Foundation Nursing Studies Scholarship is also available in the amount of $2,000. National Council of Jewish Women scholarships are available to Los Angeles-area nursing students who do not belong to the Jewish faith.


UCLA


The College of Nursing at the University of California in Los Angeles offers several scholarships to attending students. Both the Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship Grant and the Audrienne H. Moseley Scholarship are available to master's students in the UCLA nursing program. The John Hartford Foundation Scholarship is available to UCLA nursing students specializing in gerontological nursing. Other scholarships available to UCLA nursing students include the Karen Van Brunt Endowment Fund, Lulu Wolf Hassenplug Scholarship and the UCLA Medical Auxillary Scholarship.


California State University


The College of Health and Human Services at California State University in Los Angeles offers several scholarship programs to attending nursing students. The Esther Walker Buccieri Scholarships is available to graduate-level nursing students who hold a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. The Athalie Clarke Scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate nursing students who can demonstrate financial need. The Bonnie Fraser Lemus and Dalby/Proudfoot Nursing Scholarships are both available to undergraduate nursing students in their junior year.


California Nursing Students' Association


The California Nursing Students' Association offers annual scholarship support to nursing students in the Los Angeles area. To be eligible, an applicant must be a member of the National Student Nurses Association and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0. Applicants are required to submit two letters of reference and an essay of no more than 500 words describing their future roles as a nurse. The annual deadline for application is August 12.
