Configure Wifi On The Nintendo Ds

Configure Wi-Fi on the Nintendo DS

The Nintendo DS hand-held gaming console is equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities that allow you to play online games, share game items with friends and even surf the Internet. The DS can only be used with wireless routers and can be configured for use in your home or at wireless hotspots. The setup process for the earlier DS and DS Lite models is slightly different from that of the later DSi and DSi XL game consoles.

Instructions

DS and DS Lite

1. Insert a Wi-Fi enabled game card into your Nintendo DS console. Start up your DS and launch the game.

2. Access the game's Nintendo WFC mode, which can be found in different menus depending on the game. Some can be found in menus such as "Multiplayer" and "Online Play."

3. Choose the "Settings" option to enter the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection setup screen. Select "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings."

4. Choose "Connection 1," then "Search for an Access Point." Select your wireless network.

5. Enter the WEP encryption key for your router if you're prompted to do so, then "OK" to save the settings.

6. Press the "OK" button to test your network connection.

DSi and DSi XL

7. Power on your DSi console. Select the wrench icon to access the system settings menu.

8. Touch the right arrow button on the bottom screen until you reach page three of the settings. Choose "Internet," then select "Connection Settings."

9. Select "None" in the box next to "Connection 1." Choose "Search for an Access Point."

10. Choose your wireless network and enter the WEP key if your network is password protected. Select "Change Security Settings" if your network uses WPA encryption and enter your password on the following screen.

11. Press "OK" to save your information, then "OK" again to check your connection.
