Paper liners add to the final presentation of a cupcake.
Cupcake paper liners, also known as muffin liners, are available in a variety of colors and patterns. While the paper liners help to extend the shelf life of cupcakes and by sealing in moisture and add to the presentation value by giving an attractive portable casing, they are not a requirement for making cupcakes. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Foil Liners
One problem with paper liners is that they absorb oil from the cupcakes during baking and may look greasy. This is unavoidable because some oil or fat is released when the mixture is heated. Using foil liners instead of paper liners can be used instead because the foil will not absorb oil during the baking process.
Nonstick Spray
It's not necessary to use paper liners or any liner when making cupcakes. The muffin or pan can be sprayed directly with non-stick spray or greased with butter and this will ensure that your cupcake can be removed with ease.
Silicone Cups
Another alternative to paper cupcake liners is silicone cups or molds. The cookie batter is placed directly into the silicone cups which are then placed on the baking tray. The cups are reusable and can be washed in the dishwasher.
