Adjacent to the Alabama state line, Columbus, Ga., is 100 miles south of Atlanta and near Fort Benning. Georgia Military College
Georgia Military College, also known as GMC, is a liberal arts junior college with a campus in Columbus. Established in 1879, GMC is an accredited school offering associate of arts (AA), associate of science (AS) and associate of applied science (AAS) degrees. The majority of GMC students transfer to a four-year college after completing the initial two-year coursework at GMC.

Columbus Technical College is a proprietary school and community college in Columbus offering students the ability to earn an associate degree, technical certificate of credit or diploma. Students interested in earning an associate degree can study business, health, management, public service or technical studies. Students can also obtain technical communications certificates, become a certified Microsoft Office specialist or earn a diploma for management and supervisory development.

Chattahoochee Valley Community College
Just outside Columbus and over the border into Alabama, Chattahoochee Valley Community College is an accredited institution offering associate degrees in a number of fields. Chattahoochee Valley Community College also has several intercollegiate sports teams such as men's baseball, women and men's basketball and women's cheerleading. Students can expect to complete their degree within two years.
