Feed Toy Poodles

Feed your energetic and playful toy poodle a balanced diet that blends dry and wet food.

The toy poodle is lively, intelligent and quite popular as a show dog. The smallest of the poodle breed of dogs, the toy poodle measures a maximum of 10 inches in height. Grooming, exercise and diet are important elements of owning this smart dog breed. You must ensure that you feed your toy poodle a balanced and nutritious diet to maintain its health and well-being.

Instructions

1. Feed your toy poodle puppy between three and five small food portions each day. Puppies have small stomachs and additional nutrition and energy requirements. As your toy poodle grows into an adult, reduce its food intake to two feedings daily. Offer your adult toy poodle between 3 and 5 oz. of food each day.

2. Combine wet and dry commercial kibble or homemade dog food in you toy poodle's diet. Mix a little canned food with dry food when you feed the dog. Prepare homemade food that blends oats, fish, pork, beef, wheat, beets and roughly ground green and yellow vegetables. If you are introducing new food, offer it gradually, mixing it into the current food a little more each time to ensure your poodle's digestive system can properly assimilate it.

3. Offer commercial or homemade treats such as high-fiber biscuits or raw liver occasionally. Restrict the treats to use as a reward while training or for a bonus bite twice a week. Avoid overfeeding by giving small portions.

4. Provide a fresh supply of filtered water in a bowl at all times for your poodle to drink.
