Make A Lion King Suit

Disney's "The Lion King" has been made into a film and a musical on Broadway. It has a distinctive soundtrack and dramatic storyline. Dressing up as the Lion King is ideal for children and adults alike. You can create you own Lion King suit at home using yellow fabric, a glue gun and other materials. The glue is a strong substitute for sewing, which can tear and be time-consuming to actually do. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Obtain a pattern of a lion costume from a craft store or online. Without expertise, it's near impossible to create a lion suit without having a pattern to follow to make each of the sections. Use a fuzzy material to represent the fuzzy texture of the lion's fur.

2. Lay out the fabric flat on a surface, with the fuzzy surface facing downward.Cut out each of the shapes contained in the pattern and pin them to the fabric. Lay the shapes on the fabric first, to make sure you have enough material.

3. Cut out each of the shapes. Follow the guideline around the edge of the pattern. Each line indicates a specific size; make sure you follow the same line on each shape otherwise they will not be in proportion with one another.

4. Pin the shapes together to form the lion suit. Meanwhile, heat up the glue gun in preparation for gluing them together.

5. Remove the line of pins along the first seam that you need to attach together. Squeeze the handle of the glue gun to produce a thin bead of hot glue. Keep your hands away from the end; otherwise, the glue will burn and stick to your fingers.

6. Add a line of glue along one of the two edges. Then put the glue gun to the side for a moment. Press the two edges together to join them. Wait for a couple of minutes until the glue is dry, then continue to the next seam.

7. Continue to glue each of the seams of the lion king suit together. Make sure that you check that you are attaching the right seams together each time, before you glue them.

8. Make a hood for the lion suit by gluing a large oval shape of material to the neck of the lion king suit, large enough to fit over the wearer's head. Edge the rim with extra strips of fuzzy material to build up the lion king's mane and add ears to the hood using tan craft foam.

9. Put the suit on. Check that it fits. To complete the look, put on face paint and wear a crown.
