Write A Poem For A Lost Cat

Losing a cat you loved can bring up many negative emotions.

Losing a loved one, whether feline or human, can cause a lot of anxiety and other negative emotions. Writing a poem when you have lost your cat can help you express some of these emotions and help you work toward the acceptance stage of grief. It can also help with the anxiety of not knowing if your cat is going to come home or not, and can offer some hope of his safe return.

Instructions

1. Brainstorm and jot down the most positive stories that you and your cat experienced together and how those experiences made you feel. Continue with any funny stories you have of your cat. Write down any positive qualities your cat had.

2. Think of reasons why you hope your cat will come home. Acknowledge there is a possibility that she won't, but you will welcome her return if she does.

3. Think about how you can organize the ideas you jotted down into a rhyming poem form. Place the words with the most rhyming options as the last word in the sentence to make it easier to create rhymes. Write out the poem in pencil and erase and adjust as needed. Try to include as much information from your notes as possible.

4. Rewrite the final draft of your poem in pen.
