Places To Go To Find A Boyfriend

Places to Go to Find a Boyfriend

In some cases, a woman may never be able to meet a good guy because she is looking in the wrong places. Chances are you will not find your knight in shining armor in a dark nightclub or at the corner bar. The latter is possible, but don't invest too much time in the new "hot spot" trying to find your Mr. Right. Single women outnumber single men in most big cities and metropolitan areas, according to Lena C. Edlund, an economist at Columbia University. To stand out among the crowd and find your boyfriend, you need to think outside the box.

A Sporting Event

Guys love their sports, so there is bound to be a pool of men at sporting events. Feel free to treat a baseball stadium or basketball arena as a singles retreat-or better yet, join in on the fun. If you are already in shape, or just desire to become more athletic, check around your local community and join a softball team. You can even take your boyfriend search on a 5k walk or run; a friendly "running" dialogue can eventually blossom into a romance.

A Party

Your friends probably know you better than your family, and one of your friends is bound to know a great guy with the yin that matches your yang. Your being single is not reason enough to throw a party, but there is a "party-worthy" holiday about every three months or so. In the interim, do some brainstorming with your friend to decide how the introduction will happen. For example, you need to know whether the friend plans to tell the guy about you before the party or whether a more subtle approach will be used, and the two of you meet by "coincidence" while in attendance.

Online

Online dating and social networking sites, like Facebook and eHarmony, are visited by millions of people each day. Although Facebook is not technically a dating website, you can still get to know someone for free. For example, you can view his profile picture; you can read his background information to determine whether you have anything in common; and you can see whether you have any mutual Facebook friends who may be able to put in a good word for you.

EHarmony, on the other hand, is an online dating website. However, you are not allowed to see prospective dates, but are matched according to your answers on a personality test. The service is not free, but eHarmony says it was responsible for almost 120 weddings a day in the United States in 2007.

Volunteer for a Charity

You can kill two birds with one stone by volunteering for a charity: you can give back to your community and also possibly find a boyfriend. This may be something of a challenge, because more women volunteer than men. Out of the 61.8 million people who volunteered in 2008, only 23.2 percent of those people were men, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, even though the male pickings will be slim, every guy you meet will embody good boyfriend qualities. A guy who helps people who are less fortunate will also be very big-hearted and caring of other people-potentially you.
