Dallas is a good place to own a dog. There are special events such as the Annual Dog Bowl, adoption programs around the Dallas metro area on a weekly basis, dog parks and much more for the dog owner and prospective dog owner.
Friends of Fair Park's Dog Bowl
On April 17, 2011, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Cotton Bowl becomes the venue for the Annual Dog Bowl. Dogs of all sizes, breeds and ages and their human companions get to run, catch and tackle. There will be exhibits and events throughout the afternoon. Call 214-426-3400 for more information.

Miniature Schnauzer of North Texas is held on the first Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pet Smart in Garland, 5401 N. Garland.
Hillcrest Animal Rescue holds adoption programs on the second Saturday of each month at Petco, 8700 Preston Road #105, Plano.
Operation Kindness Adoptions at IKEA is held on the second Saturday of each month from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 7171 Ikea Drive, in Frisco.
Straydog Inc. holds adoption programs each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pet Smart, 3300 N. Central Expressway, Plano.
Pet Grief Counseling Support Group
This support group meets at 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the SPCA, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas. Call 214-461-5131 24-hours a day for pet grief counseling. All calls are returned within 24 hours.
Microchip Clinic
On the last Sunday of each month, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Operation Kindness offers lifetime registration and microchip implants for your pet. The cost is $15 per animal and the location is Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrolton.
