Emergency Surgery Grants For Pets

Emergency surgery grants save pets' lives.

Pet owners who undergo financial hardships due to a temporary job loss or a loss of their home are sometimes forced to abandon their pets, or forgo lifesaving medical procedures. Emergency surgery grants for pets offer a solution to individual pet owners or veterinary practitioners by paying for these medical treatments.

Angels for Animals

Based in California, Angels for Animals is a non-profit organization that assists pet owners in need of veterinary care with emergency and medical expenses. The grants help to offset medical neglect or unnecessary decisions to place animals under euthanasia by pet owners who lack sufficient funds to have their animals treated. Funds provided by Angels for Animals are specifically for medical treatments that go beyond such basic costs as vaccinations, spay and neuter surgeries or routine veterinary care. Private pet owners and staff who work at veterinary clinics nationwide can contact Angels for America if an animal is facing euthanasia due to financial constraints. The organization accepts monthly donations from private and corporate donors.

American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)

Based in Lakewood, Colorado, AAHA was founded by a board of trustees in 2005. The fund was established to help meet the growing demand of medical costs to cover emergency and non-elective treatment for pets. AAHA only works with veterinarians; private pet owners in need of financial assistance must consult with an AAHA approved veterinary practitioner or clinic in their region for recommendations to become grant recipients. The funds are provided specifically for sick or injured pets in need of emergency medical attention, including surgery. There are three categories for eligible groups: individuals who are on government assistance or low-income pet owners, pet owners experiencing temporary financial hardship and veterinary clinics wishing to relinquish abandoned pets.
