Ideas For A Grand Opening Ceremony

There are many ideas for a grand opening ceremony and you want to use the best of them to create a fabulous grand opening for your business! Impress your guests and get business off on the right foot by inviting your neighbors and potential customers in your area to join you in kicking off the opening of your new business.

Go Local

Support the community by inviting the local high school marching band to provide music celebrating the ribbon cutting ceremony. Ask teens from the National Honors Society or other organization to assist with passing out programs, helping with refreshments and providing information about your business to guests.

Ask the local church if a priest or minister will provide a blessing for your new business. Ask the church to invite other parish members to attend.

Hire Costumed Characters

Have larger than life costumed characters outside the business to attract attention to your business during the grand opening ceremony. The more colorful they are, the better.

For example, if you are opening a new children's shoe store, hire someone to dress up in a large chicken suit to walk around outside to take photos with the children and possibly pass out small shoe horns or other novelty items.

Another example is if you are opening a young women's hip fashion store, you could hold a fashion show outside before or after the grand opening ceremony. Arrange to have a catwalk created outside and have the models dress in your hippest, trendiest outfits.

You could even have one of the costumed characters cut the grand opening ribbon. If your company has a mascot have someone to dress up like the mascot to cut the ribbon.

Invite Local Dignitaries

Make your new business official by inviting local celebrities and dignitaries to your grand opening ceremony. Invite the mayor to cut the ribbon marking the opening of your business.

Include a long, red carpet leading into your store and be sure you have large ribbon wrapped around the doors for the mayor to cut. For added humor purchase extra large scissors for the mayor to use, but be sure the scissors actually cut.

Provide a short speech to be read announcing the new location opening and hold a balloon launch once the ribbon is cut.

For the balloon launch, contact your local party store and inquire about helium balloons in your corporate colors, along with netting to hold the balloons until the big launch.
