Polling Invitation
Make your invitation interactive. Prior to the shower, ask the expectant mom to keep the sex of her baby a secret. Inside the baby shower invitation include a blue and a pink swatch of fabric. Ask the guests to cast their vote at the baby shower by placing their swatches in a baby-themed, decorative collection box. Guests will have fun "voting," and mom can later announce whether she is having a boy or a girl. She could award a prize, say a small bag of mints, to any guest who guesses correctly.
DVD Invitation
Use a portable video recorder to make a funny DVD invitation for guests. Create a slide show using photographs of the mom-to-be, or tape a live interview with her.
